Best skiing at the moment Follow the snow - four days, date on request
Discover the best skiing in Central Switzerland!
Discover Andermatt and other nearby ski resorts that can be easily reached with the help of Switzerland's efficient train system. Every day will look different, with some days only lift-bound and other days ski touring or free touring.
Andermatt is located in the middle of the Swiss Alps. This means it receives an incredible amount of snow, but also that it is a logistically smart starting point for quickly moving to other climate zones, where the skiing is the best at the moment. In half an hour you are on the other side of the Gotthard tunnel in the southern Alps. There, the weather and snow conditions are usually completely different, you can easily get the feeling of having landed in Japan when you come out of the tunnel and suddenly there is two meters of snow on the roofs. If you take the train over the Oberalp pass instead, you end up in eastern Switzerland. There are ski resorts such as Disentis and Sedrun that offer world-class lift-based ski touring. If it's really stormy, you can take the train half an hour west to Oberwald in Valais. There we will find very nice ski touring in the trees. Our favorite, however is a cold January day when it has snowed far down in the valley. Then we go north and change ski lifts for farmer lifts and ride powder between the farms.
