Ski Mountaineering Camp
3 days - Experience mountains off the beaten path!
Service Description
3 days to expand your tool box for bigger adventures. You are an already experienced skier and want to discover the high mountains. This course is designed to improve your skills and confidence for ski mountaineering in more complex terrain. Topics Covered: - Tour planning and decision making - Rope techniques in steep/advanced terrain - Glacier travel - How to use crampons and ice axe efficiently Day 1 – Warm-up & Planning After a mellow warm-up run on the backside of Gemsstock, we head out on a short ski tour through varied terrain. We finish in Hospental with coffee and cake, then plan the next days: what to pack, how to prepare for a night in an unguarded hut, and how to manage food and gear. Day 2 – Into the Wild We take the train to Disentis, where we grab groceries and take a short tour from the lifts. In the afternoon, we leave the resort, traverse a glacier, and reach the remote Cavadiras Hut. Once there, we light a fire, cook together, and enjoy the quiet of the mountains. Day 3 – Big Descent An early start takes us back across the glacier and up to Fruttstock. If conditions allow, we ski its north couloir — a steep classic — all the way into Maderanertal. From there, we return home by bus or train. If conditions aren't ideal, we choose a rewarding alternative route.
