5 Days through Remote Valleys, Glaciers and Alpine Passes
Day 1: Binn – Binntalhütte
Meeting Point: 09:30 AM in Binn
After a gear check, we begin the ascent into the wild Binntal. A steady climb of approx. 800m leads us to the Binntalhütte (2265m). Depending on conditions and energy levels, we may explore additional terrain above the hut in the afternoon.
Day 2: Binntalhütte – Rifugio Claudio e Bruno
We start early and ascend towards the Eggerscharte, entering increasingly alpine terrain. After a short bootpack section, we cross into Italy. From there, we climb towards Ofenhorn (3235m).
A spectacular north-facing glacier descent brings us down to Lago del Sabbione. After a short break, we skin up another 250m to the Rifugio Claudio e Bruno (2708m), where a well-earned aperitivo awaits.
Day 3: Rifugio Claudio e Bruno – Capanna Corno-Gries
We descend directly from the hut and traverse towards the Rothornpass, climbing onto the Gries Glacier. From here, a short ascent brings us to Blinnenhorn (3374m).
After enjoying the views over Switzerland and Italy, we descend the vast Gries Glacier back into Swiss terrain. A final climb leads us over the Cornopass to the Capanna Corno-Gries (2332m).
Day 4: Capanna Corno-Gries – Rotondohütte
We enter one of the most remote alpine areas of the tour, moving north into the Witenwasseren region. If conditions allow, we cross the Witenwasserenpass and enjoy a scenic descent towards the Rotondohütte (2570m), located in the heart of the Rotondo area.
Day 5: Rotondohütte – Return Journey
A flexible final day with several descent options depending on conditions and group preference. Possible routes include:
-
Ascent of Witenwasserenstock and descent to Val Bedretto / Airolo and return via train to Andermatt
-
Traverse over Rottällihorn with long descent to Realp and return via train to Andermatt
