Route Description – From Disentis into the Maderanertal

After taking the lifts up to the Piz Ault area, the tour leaves the ski resort and quickly enters true alpine terrain. A short ascent leads towards the Brunni valley.

A rocky section equipped with fixed ladders forms the technical key passage of the tour. Skis are carried briefly before continuing down onto the Brunnifirn glacier.

From here, we ascend steadily through vast glaciated terrain towards the Oberalpstock. The climb is moderate at first and becomes steeper near the summit. Depending on conditions, the final ascent is done either on skis or with crampons.

In stable conditions, the route continues over the Staldenfirn glacier into the remote Maderanertal. Wide glacier slopes transition into long alpine faces and endless terrain.

With up to 2,500 vertical meters of descent and only around 700 meters of ascent, this is considered one of the most impressive ski traverses in the Disentis region.

If conditions are not suitable, an alternative descent back to Disentis offers a safe and equally rewarding alpine experience.
