This 2-day ski tour combines a spectacular approach to Capanna Cristallina with outstanding summit and descent options on the second day. From classic ski touring objectives to hidden couloirs and untouched powder slopes, Val Bedretto offers an unforgettable experience for intermediate and advanced ski tourers.

Day 1 – Through Val Cavagnolo to Capanna Cristallina
We start in Al Aqua (1,613 m) and ascend through the beautiful larch forests of Val Cavagnolo. The terrain gradually steepens as we move higher into the alpine landscape beneath the impressive north faces of Pizzo Grandinagia.
A series of steeper slopes leads us to Poncione Val Piana (2,659 m), where we stop for a well-earned lunch break and enjoy the spectacular surroundings.
From the summit, a short but rewarding descent takes us east onto the Valleggia Glacier. We then make our final ascent over Passo della Cima di Lago (2,697 m) before traversing down to Capanna Cristallina.
The day concludes with a warm meal, stunning mountain scenery, and of course a well-deserved Ticino espresso.
Day 2 – Cristallina and the Hidden Descents of Val Bedretto
The classic objective for the second day is the ascent of Cristallina (2,912 m), one of the most prominent ski touring peaks in the region.
From the summit, numerous descent options open up depending on snow conditions and group ability. Those looking for a classic ski touring experience can enjoy long alpine descents back into Val Bedretto.
For stronger skiers seeking more adventurous terrain, the area offers countless possibilities away from the beaten track, including steep couloirs, wide-open faces, and perfectly spaced larch forests.
Val Bedretto is one of our favourite ski touring playgrounds, and the variety of terrain allows us to select the best objective and descent for the conditions of the day.
Requirements
This tour is designed for ski tourers with previous touring experience, good fitness, and confident off-piste skiing skills.
