ROPE TECHNIQUES FOR GLACIER COURSE 🎯 Learning Objectives This crevasse rescue course focuses on emergency situations in glaciated and high alpine terrain. You will learn how to respond safely and efficiently after a crevasse fall and how to manage rope systems in complex mountain environments. Training takes place in realistic terrain around Andermatt, using suitable snow slopes and flat areas to enable safe and effective practice. Focus areas – Crevasse rescue systems and techniques – Rope handling and anchor building – Team rescue procedures in glacier terrain – Self-rescue and partner rescue scenarios – Safety protocols in high alpine environments 📅 Course Program – Introduction to rope techniques for glacier travel – Proper tying-in and rope team formation – Movement as a rope team in alpine terrain – Building snow and ice anchors – Setting up pulley systems for rescue – Self-rescue using prusiks or mechanical devices – Practical rescue scenarios in training terrain 💪 Requirements – Comfortable skiing in alpine winter terrain – Basic ski touring experience (skinning and descending in variable snow) – Ability to spend a full day outdoors in cold conditions – No prior rope or crevasse rescue experience required 🎿 Equipment – Off-piste skis with skins (max 105mm waist) – Ski crampons – Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe – Backpack, water, lunch/snack – Harness – Helmet Optional technical gear (if available) – Rope – Pulley system (microtraxion or similar) – Slings, carabiners, rappel device 📍 Meeting Point 08:30 at Imholz Sport, Gemsstock cable car base station, Andermatt. Rental equipment available at Imholz Sport Andermatt. Group size: 4–6 participants per guide ✔️ Included in the Price – 1 day guiding in an open group (up to 6 participants) by UIAGM mountain guide or aspirant guide – Course organisation ❌ Not Included in the Price – Ski pass – Accommodation – Rental equipment – Transportation – Food and drinks – Insurance (accident, mountain rescue, travel, illness and all other insurances are the responsibility of the participant) We recommend being a member of REGA, the Swiss Air Rescue Service.

PAYMENT The entire price (mountain guide tariff and expenses) must be paid in advance. CANCELLATION BY PARTICIPANT Cancellation costs: - up to 30 days before the course start, CHF 80.00 booking fee will be charged. - 29 - 10 days before the course start, 50% from the course cost will be charged. - 9 - 0 days before the course start, 100% from the course cost will be charged. In case the participant leaves the course/tour, 100% from the course/tour cost will be charged. CANCELLATION BY andermatt-guides We reserve the right to cancel a course at any time for any reason, including but not limited to: a) when we see that the minimum number of guests cannot be filled. The registered guests will receive 100% refund for the course costs paid to andermatt-guides. b) when the conditions in the tour region are too bad and we cannot find a suitable alternative tour. The registered guests will receive a refund for the course costs, hotel booking fees that are not refundable will be charged to the guest. c) in the event that the mountain guide is for any reason unavailable and no replacement can be found. It is the responsibility of the mountain guide to decide if a participant meets the requirements of the tour as stated in the tour description. In the event that the participant does not meet the tour requirements, the mountain guide has the right to remove the participant from the course. In this case there will be no refund of the course cost. CANCELLATION COST INSURANCE We recommend that the participant arranges cancellation cost insurance.
