Service Description

Acquire the basics for safe alpine tours and learn to move confidently on rock and firn! Whether classic alpine tours or combined alpine routes - moving safely on rock and firn requires special knowledge and technique. In this two-day course, we will teach you the basic skills you need to be safe on combined terrain. You will learn how to move efficiently in firn fields and light rock, how to use ice axes and crampons correctly and how to build belays in alpine terrain. Course content: - Walking techniques with and without crampons - Moving safely in firn (track setting, roping up, braking in the event of a fall) - Handling ice axe & crampons in different types of terrain - Stand construction in rock and firn - Belaying techniques for combined terrain - Rope and belaying tactics for simple alpine tours - Risk assessment and tour planning Prerequisites: - Sure-footedness and a head for heights - Experience in mountain hiking or initial alpine experience is an advantage - Stamina for longer walking times in alpine terrain Group size: 4-6 people per guide Accommodation: Tierbergli hut Price: CHF 520 / person Included in the price: - Mountain guide / aspirant for 2 days - One overnight stay in a shared room with half board - Organization of the tour Not included in the price: - Material according to separate material list - Arrival and return journey - Lunch and drinks - Insurance (accident insurance, regatta membership, cancellation insurance is the responsibility of the participants) Meeting point: 9.00 am at the Alpincenter Sustenpass Language: German/English MATERIAL LIST: Technical material: - Crampon-compatible mountain boots - Climbing harness - 2 screw carabiners (including 1 HMS carabiner) - 1 sewn webbing sling 120 cm, if available - 1 cord approx. 6m, 6mm - 1 Prusik sling (cord approx. 1.5 m, 5-6 mm) - Abseiling device - ice axe - Crampons with anti-slip rubber - helmet - Possibly trekking poles Clothing: - Warm and functional clothing for climbing and high altitude tours incl. Rain jacket - Hat, gloves (incl. 1 pair of spare gloves) - Spare underwear - gaiters Special items - Toiletries, personal medication, small pharmacy, plasters - Sun cream, lip protection, sunglasses, sun hat - Possibly binoculars and camera - Cell phone - Headlamp - SAC ID card - ½-Tax subscription or GA travelcard - Thermos flask or water bottle - Snacks for 2 days
